About Teddy Bear Stool

We at Stin.com love this stool! A great accompaniment to the Teddy Bear Chair, the stool offers maximum comfort, allowing you to rest in style. A critic reviewed the matching chair in 1951 and named it the Teddy Bear chair due to it's design and thereafter the chair was always referred to as the Teddy Bear. The Teddy Bear chair is one of Danish Wegner’s most celebrated designs and is exceptionally comfortable whilst retaining all the streamlined qualities of mid century design.

The story behind the Teddy Bear Stool

Having designed over 500 chairs in his lifetime, Hans J. Wegner is one of the 20th century's most prolific creators of iconic chairs. The Teddy Bear chair is amongst them and is a prime example of Wegner's love of what he termed 'Organic Functionality'. Designed in 1951, it wasn't until later that year when a critic was reviewing the chair that the 'Teddy Bear' name was coined, referring to its shape and look. Since then the chair has always been referred to by this name.
